Healthcare in a Digital World

Posted on: 21/02/2020

When it comes to providing the best possible care, healthcare professionals across the United Kingdom are united in the shared belief that the new digital technologies, introduced into the health sector in recent years, have already made an unprecedented impact. Helping to save lives on a daily basis.

Every day, the brave ambulance crews of Britain, the dedicated nurses of the NHS, and the nation’s devoted practitioners and consultants work tirelessly around the clock to serve the British public. Our healthcare professionals play an incredibly important role within society, and it’s no secret that in recent years, they have been put under immense pressure by a lack of funding. Of course, providing emergency care, and long-term patient care, is expensive. To consistently provide high-quality healthcare you must commit to sustained, robust investment, something that critics say, has been severely lacking.

The arrival of digital technologies however, has given the sector great cause for hope. Whilst overall cost reduction may remain an imperative policy for the sector, healthcare professionals can now see clearly, that by making healthcare ‘fully digital,’ they can start on the road to creating a more efficient, cost-effective, and higher quality health service than ever before.

Executive Television’s latest programme, entitled Healthcare in a Digital World, takes a close look at Britain’s healthcare sector, and in a quest to learn more about how digital technologies are changing the health service, we meet with a number of frontline specialist providers.

We meet with the South-Central Ambulance Service a brave group of men and women who are demonstrating that digital tech can not only save lives, but also help to predict and prevent danger in the future.  We also meet with the groundbreaking Ortivus, a company with more than 30 years’ experience in cardiology and medical technology and a market leader in ‘e-health.’ By meeting with these specialists, this episode will shed light on the vitally important work of the health service, and the amazing potential found in harnessing the power of digital technology.

Healthcare in a Digital World will be first broadcast on our usual channel, Sky 191 on Sunday 23rd February at 10.30am and repeated on Sunday 08th March at 10.30am. After the initial broadcast, the programme will then be available online at http://www.executivetv.org/ with the rest of our digital archive.
